PARENT SERVICES

Parent Services: Services

ADVOCACY

Many parents are overwhelmed during school 504 and IEP meetings.  The educational jargon alone can cause your head to spin.  At Lakemere Learning we speak parent and school!  We can translate a complicated process and help you navigate the school disability world with greater ease.  We can attend meetings with you or merely help you prepare for your meetings to attend alone.  Many parents are nervous at the thought of taking an advocate to a school meeting.   Lakemere’s approach is respectful, reasonable, calm and extremely collaborative.  Because we are all certified educators, we know what good instruction looks like and the real demands on classroom teachers.  Therefore, our approach is to work towards doing what is best for each student in a way that helps everyone perform in their role better.  Parents are critical participants on the 504/ARD committees.  You know your child best.  For parents to participate in meaningful ways, they often report needing more knowledge and guidance regarding what a school can do to better support their student.  Lakemere’s extensive knowledge of best practices provides that knowledge.

EDUCATIONAL CONSULTING

Educational consulting includes a wide range of services.  Think of your child’s education as an onion.  We help you address the layer in front of you, anticipate the next layer or two and celebrate that final layer victory!  Everyone’s layers are different.  Below are a few regular aspects of Lakemere’s Educational consulting.  Our consulting covers from pre-school to professional life.

HOMESCHOOL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

Thinking of homeschooling but do not know where to start?  We can help with that.  Mentoring and consultation sessions are scheduled as needed.  We can simply point you in the right direction for your family or we can provide detailed plans and schedules.
